We were happy to sit down with the editors at Marijuana Venture Magazine to chat about one of our favorite subjects recently: automating the cannabis industry for greater efficiency. In the article, called 5 Ways To Automate, the writers cover five companies that are manufacturing equipment to help cannabis brands streamline their operations. In the face of labor shortages, high costs and fierce competition, reducing manual labor and achieving greater efficiency is vital to success.
They write: “For many operators, filling vape cartridges with oil and attaching mouthpieces can be a painstaking and expensive process, making it a prime task to automate.” Luckily, Thompson Duke has industry-leading solutions to automate both of these steps, grounded in Portland Engineering’s (our parent company) 30 years of experience in large process automation. For the article, we focused primarily on our IZR Filling Machine (U.S. Patent No. 10,440,989 and cETLus Certified – UL 61010-1, UL 61010-2, UL508, CSA C22.2, IEC 61010-1). The IZR uses patented technology to increase output to 1,000 or more cartridges every hour, all filled to within 0.02 grams of each other.
